We take you on a journey to experience Kenya from its city suburbs to its famed National Parks, with expert guides and creative leading to ensure lifelong memories. From the Chuylu Hills to the Maasai Mara, with game drives, a visit to the Maa Trust and interactions with anti-poaching rangers, this trip is as much about enjoying the wildlife, as it is an opportunity to understand conservation efforts of the wildlife. 

Co-hosted by travel photographer Lucy Laucht and Amanda Ho, Founder of Electrify Magazine, we will ensure you experience Kenya both in-front of, and behind, the lens, to capture the essence of east Africa.

    Meet Your Host: Lucy Laucht

    Lucy Laucht is a travel photographer and content creator with contributing credits to Vogue, Conde Nast among others. She has also been named one of Travel + Leisure’s top 50 Photographers and is the editor at These Foreign Lands.

    Her background in digital marketing combined with her editorial experience allows Lucy to pinpoint precise shots, often theming her work on field assignments. As a storytelling getaway, we want you to understand this is not a technical program. Instead we hope you become more precise in paring down a concise theme and to return from your trip with an inspired perspective to live as a storyteller, even if you’re not traveling the world.

    1. Day 1 Arrival in Nairobi

      Arrive to Nairobi airport and transfer to the TRIBE Hotel located in the heart of Nairobi’s sophisticated Gigiri district, adjacent to The Village Market, the region’s best shopping destination.

    2. Day 2 Fly to the Chyulu Hills

      Wake up in Nairobi and transfer to Nairobi Wilson Airport for your domestic flight to ol Donyo Lodge located in the Chyulu Hills in time for lunch. Tucked away between Tsavo West National Park and Amboseli National Park, Chyulu Hills National Park boasts striking and diverse landscapes. Embark on your first sunset game drive.

    3. Day 3 Welcome to Ol Donyo

      Wake up to snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro and the distant roars of lions. Ol Donyo is a pioneer amongst safari lodges, and a forerunner of sustainable tourism: by working with the local Maasai people. Today, we explore Africa in an uncommon way – by horseback or four-wheel drive or in a hide twenty paces from some of the largest elephants in the world. Fall asleep under the twinkling night sky in the comfort of your rooftop terrace star bed.

    4. Day 4 Masai Encouters

      We will visit a local Maasai ’boma’ and watch large-tusked elephants drink from the lodge watering hole, getting up-close views from the nearby “log-pile hide” viewing perch. After lunch, descend into the volcanic caverns of the Chyulu Hills to explore the world’s second longest underground lava tube.

    5. Day 5 Wildlife Immersion

      Fly by private charter flight to the Masai Mara — this is a place where lions own the night and hippos stake claim to vast territories, where we submit to the supreme power of wild Africa. It’s a place of learning, where Africa teaches lessons that will change the way you view the world in one of the most incredible classrooms on the planet.

    6. Day 6 A Visit to the Maa Trust

      Visit The Maa Trust. an independent non-profit organisation that works towards ensuring the success of conservation through sustainable community development in the Maasai Mara ecosystem.

    7. Day 7 African Memories

      Following one last game drive in the Maasai Mara, transfer back to Nairobi for your last night in Africa at TRIBE Hotel.

    Meet the rangers protecting two million acres of wilderness that they call home. Learn about the conservation and protection efforts in place and understand how your trip helps give back to the anti-poaching community.

     

    Meet local students at Mbirikani Group Ranch School
    Meet local school children when you visit the local Mbirikani primary center. Sit in on lessons, read, talk and laugh with the local kids who are beyond appreciative you’re spending time at their school.

    Book your flight into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi (NBO). We will arrange your pick-up and ground transfer to your TRIBE Hotel.

    For United States citizens, a passport with at least two blank pages, six months’ validity, and a visa are required to enter Kenya. Single-entry visas are available upon arrival at Kenyan airports; however, Kenyan Immigration plans to end visas upon arrival in the near future. Multiple-entry visas must be applied for prior to traveling to Kenya. Learn more here.

    We require all travelers to share proof of travel insurance before the departure date. You are responsible for acquiring your travel insurance. It is mandatory that all attendees obtain travel insurance with a minimum coverage of $200,000 USD while traveling with us. Travel insurance must cover personal injury, medical expenses, loss of or damage to luggage, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses.
